Mitsubishi Introduces Two New 16-bit Microcontroller Families

(microcontroller.com) - Mitsubishi Electronics has introduced two new 16-bit microcontrollers to its portfolio, p/ns M16C/80 & M16C/20. Both are meant to be upgrade paths to its present 16-bit microcontroller product lines.

  • 16-bit CISC Core, avg. 2 cycles/instruction
  • 15MIPS performance @ 20MHz
  • 20MHz max clock rate
  • Low EMI
  • 5V operation
  • 128Kbytes ROM (Flash to be available)
  • 10Kbytes RAM
  • 106 basic instructions
  • 24-bit addressing mode
  • DRAM Controller
  • 220mW @ 20MHz  (14.6mW / MIP )
  • 10-channel, 10-bit A/D
  • I2C™ Bus
  • 4-channel DMA controller

The M16C/20
The M16C/20 is a subset of the M16C/60. The M16C/20 consumes 95mW @ 10MHz at 5MIPS (19mW / MIP). It offers 91 basic instructions, 43 I/O ports including eight LED drive ports and eight wake-up ports, an 8-channel 10-bit A/D converter, and three 16-bit timers.

Pricing and Availability
The M16C/80 is available in QFP-100 & QFP-144 packages and is pin compatible with the M16C/62. Pricing is $5.00 @ 10Ku.

The M16C/20 is available in SDIP-52 and QFP-56 packages. Pricing is $3.00 @ 10Ku.
