| Texas Instruments is providing free data converter software drivers for
their Code Composer Studio™ C compiler suite. The free drivers provide software support for TI's data converters and TI's TMS320C5000™ and TMS320C6000™ DSP platforms.
The data converter software drivers from TI are an example of the benefits developers can realize from the eXpressDSP™ open software driver architecture. This tool allows you to easily configure data converters from within CodeComposer's integrated development environment (IDE). The software drivers handle the task of creating the optimized source code necessary to configure and manage the data converter. As data converters are created with an increased number of features, programming data converters can become more complex. Software drivers simplify the programming process by generating all the configuration data based on inputs to a graphical user interface. In addition to the configuration data, a framework with complete definitions of the data converter registers is also generated. The drivers only work with the current version of Code Composer Studio™ (version 1.0 x for 'C6000™ or version 1.1x for the 'C5000™ version) or the most recent version of the free eval tools.
