Austin, Texas (microcontroller.com) - Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector (Mot SPS) introduced a new member of their 68HC08 8-bit microcontroller family. The MC68HC908GP20 has 19,968 bytes of on-chip Flash memory, which can be programmed during manufacturing or in-circuit.

New feature on the 'GP20 is a feature Motorola calls FLASHwire, which allows in-system programming of the Flash memory array.

The 'GP20 will be sampling first December 1998, with production quantites available the first half of 1999. Suggested list price is $4.50 @ 50Ku

Code Compatibility
The 68HC905GP20 is code compatible with other members of the Motorola 68HC08 family, and is upward code compatible with Motorola's 68HC05 8-bit microcontroller family.

Development Tools
Motorola's microcontroller families have excellent development tool support, with an extensive vendor list of In-circuit emulators and compilers.

The 'GP20 is further supported by the M68ICS08GP20 development tool kit. This kit, available from Motorola for $295, contains an editing environment, assembler, realtime debugger, and emulation capabilities for 'GP20 evalution and development.
