DualCore Semiconductor has announced the DCIC9907 Embedded Ethernet microcontroller with two ARM cores, and two 10/100 Ethernet MACs.

The DCIC9907 is a highly integrated chip with many features and functions. Details of this chip include:

• Two 10/100 Mbit Embedded Ethernet MACs
• Two CAN channels
• Four DMA channels
• Four USARTs
• Four SSI
• 5 16-bit timers
• Watchdog timer
• 16 vectored hardware interrupts
• 16 software interrupts
• Motion Control hardware
• 109 I/O pins
• PWM

Target Applications:
Target applications for the DCIC9907 include:

• Embedded Ethernet applications
• Advanced Servo System Platforms
• Field bus controller node (Can 2.0B, ETHERNET Powerlink)
• Field bus to Embedded Ethernet Network (bridge/firewall, gateway /TCP/IP, web server, firewall)
• Real-Time Embedded Ethernet control node (EPL Manager Node[Master] or control node [slave])

Using the DCIC9907 two ARM cores, one core can be used for real-time control and housekeeping functions while the second one manages I/O interfaces.

Embedded Ethernet functionality in the two 10/100 MBit Ethernet MAC ports are enhanced with hardware extensions to support real time Embedded Ethernet.

DCIC9907 will be available from March 2006 in an industrial temperature range 305-pin BGA package at under $USD 20 in volume.
