MOBILE, Alabama - September 2, 2003 -Accelerated Technology, the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT), today announced a version of the Nucleus(tm) Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) for the VC01 processor from Alphamosaic Limited. Embedded developers in the mobile market now have a video processing platform that they can use to bring video to wireless applications including digital still and video cameras, mobile videophones and camera-enabled PDAs.

Specifically targeting the videophone market, the VC01 is a low power, fully programmable processor based on VideoCore® technology. The VideoCore® architecture supports extremely fast functions for multimedia and video processing allowing higher quality video to be available in wireless devices without impacting battery life. Using the Nucleus RTOS platform, VC01 developers can program their mobile device for multimedia functionality including features such as two-way video conferencing as well as the ability to play games, compress, store and send video clips and play and edit music.

Embedded developers can extend their wireless applications by using a range of the Nucleus products including the Nucleus NET TCP/IP networking suite and the Nucleus FILE file management system. All the Nucleus components for VC01 are available under the "source code, no royalty" business model, which has led to widespread adoption of the Nucleus RTOS in the mobile handset market.

"The combination of VideoCore® and the Nucleus RTOS ensures fast and easy development for creating world-leading multimedia applications," says Robert Swann, VP Marketing at Alphamosaic. "Together, we enable complex multimedia applications with both low power and high quality - two words which have been, until now, rarely connected."

"The Nucleus RTOS continues to be very successful in mobile handset designs," said Robert Day, director of marketing, Mentor Graphics Embedded Systems Division. "This Nucleus release for the VC01 processor will now make it easier for developers building high-volume wireless devices to include video functionality, and confirms our commitment to bring affordable, robust technology to the mobile market."
